Finding my vocation as a translator, I continued this path at university and selected classes that demanded meticulous attention to detail, classes that invited a free flow of interconecting meanings, and classes that call for the competence to apply the right balance of both, all while accounting for target audience, function and context. Among others, these were classes on economics, business translation, software translation, engineering, technical translation, law, legal translation, and audiovisual translation—in addition to cultural studies, linguistics, and translation science. Lastly, I wrote my bachelor's thesis on videogame subtitling and my master's thesis on the young field of videogame translation and transcreation.
Technology and creativity have been a part of my life since early childhood and youth—whether that is fixing RC cars, taking apart TVs and figuring out early computers, or reading books, playing instruments and drawing—and both continue to be varied sources of interests for me to pursue.
Toward the end of my master's degree and beyond, I worked at an international transportation software and hardware company for over a year. Here I gained experience in technical writing and technical translation, such as manuals and specifications, as well as more open writing and translation, such as brochures and product announcements. This experience allowed me to add the field of transportation to my repertoire.
